“You can take the drugs and alcohol…away but you still have you.”
-Gary
There comes a point in our sobriety where we realize that drugs, alcohol, or whatever we were addicted to was never the problem. Our addiction was only a symptom of our personal brokenness. Inevitably, the problems we experienced during our addiction don’t go away. We may be sober, but we’re still suffering from our hurt, resentments, repressions, anger, jealousy, rage, etc.
A personal inventory helps us look at the things that we carry in our heart, mind, and spirit. And it’s the things that are detrimental to our well-being and prevent us from healing and becoming whole that we want to look at. It’s not going to be pretty. But it’s a necessary and important part of the recovery process.
Watch this video to learn more about why a personal inventory is important.
